iKofi Creator Eligibility
& Trust and Safety Policy

iKofi is a tipping platform, not a content hosting platform. Creators maintain their own platforms independently.

iKofi does not publish, host, or monitor creator content. This policy protects the iKofi community from being used to financially support individuals or organisations whose publicly available content or known affiliations fall outside the boundaries set below.

Key principle: We assess publicly available external content. Framing or packaging does not change our assessment — incitement is incitement regardless of presentation.

Ineligible Creator Categories

The following categories are not eligible to hold an iKofi account. Existing accounts found to fall into these categories will be closed summarily upon verified report.

  • Individuals or organisations that advocate for, glorify, or incite violence against any person or group.
  • Individuals or organisations designated as terrorist or extremist by the South African government or international bodies, or those publicly affiliated with such organisations.
  • Individuals whose publicly available content constitutes hate speech — material that threatens, demeans, or discriminates against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
  • Individuals or organisations calling for the violent overthrow of democratic institutions or governments.
  • Individuals whose publicly available content harasses, doxxes, or encourages abuse of specific individuals.
  • Individuals whose publicly available content deliberately spreads harmful disinformation capable of causing public harm.
  • Zero tolerance: Individuals involved in the production or distribution of child exploitation material → immediate permanent closure, referral to authorities.
  • Individuals operating scam-adjacent schemes — pyramid schemes, fraudulent investment solicitations, get-rich-quick operations.
  • Individuals promoting goods or services illegal under South African law.
  • Individuals whose publicly available content is sexually explicit — permitted only once iKofi's NSFW creator tier is activated; ineligible at launch.

Permitted Without Restriction

The following do not disqualify a creator from holding an iKofi account:

  • General political commentary across the spectrum
  • Religious content, faith-based communities, and spiritual practice
  • Mature content that does not meet the threshold for explicit material

How We Handle Reports

iKofi does not monitor creator activity proactively. We act on reports submitted to our Trust and Safety address. Reports must include:

  • The creator's iKofi profile link
  • A direct link to the external content in question
  • A description of the concern
  • Any supporting evidence you are able to provide

Each report is assessed on its own merits — nature of content, context, and intent are all considered. iKofi's decisions are final.

Consequences

Account closure is the single enforcement outcome for verified violations. There is no warning stage — iKofi is not the publisher of the content and cannot require its removal.

All violations: immediate account closure, funds held pending disbursement forfeited.
Child exploitation material: immediate closure and referral to relevant authorities without notice.

Our Commitment to Reporters

Every report receives a response. We will acknowledge your report, investigate, and inform you of our decision. We will not close a report without coming back to you.
