1. About iKofi

iKofi is a South African creator tipping platform operated by Anthony Thomas Flanigan t/a iKofi, House 4, Farm C11, Wansley, East London, 5201 (referred to in these terms as "iKofi", "we", or "us").

iKofi allows fans to send tips to creators they support. iKofi is not a content hosting platform. We do not publish, store, or moderate creator content.

By using iKofi — whether as a creator or a tipper — you agree to these terms.

2. Definitions

  • Creator — a person registered on iKofi to receive tips from supporters
  • Tipper — a person who sends a tip to a creator via iKofi
  • Platform — the iKofi website and associated services at beachy.co.za/ikofi
  • Paystack — the third-party payment processor used by iKofi to process all transactions

3. Creator Accounts

3.1 Eligibility

To register as a creator you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be a South African resident
  • Hold a valid South African bank account
  • Agree to these Terms of Service and the iKofi Creator Eligibility & Trust and Safety Policy

3.2 Registration

At registration you are required to provide your name, email address, a profile photo or brand identifier, a link to your main online platform, and proof of identity and bank account for verification purposes. Verification documents are deleted upon approval. Only a confirmation flag is retained.

3.3 Your Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for your content and your conduct on any platform, online or otherwise. You warrant that you are eligible under the Creator Eligibility & Trust and Safety Policy and that you will remain so for the duration of your account.

3.4 Account Closure

Account closure for cause: iKofi reserves the right to close any creator account at any time where we determine, in our sole discretion, that the creator is ineligible under our Trust and Safety Policy. Funds held pending disbursement at the time of closure for cause are forfeited. There is no appeal against closure for Trust and Safety violations.

4. Payments and Fees

4.1 How Payments Work

All tips are processed by Paystack. iKofi does not handle, hold, or have access to tipper payment details. Creators receive funds via their Paystack subaccount, paid directly to their bank account.

4.2 Platform Fee

iKofi retains 5% of each tip as a platform fee. The remaining 95% is disbursed to the creator's subaccount.

4.3 Paystack Fees

Paystack's own transaction fees apply and are separate from iKofi's platform fee. Creators are responsible for understanding Paystack's fee structure.

4.4 Refunds

Tips are voluntary and non-refundable. iKofi does not process refunds. Any payment disputes must be directed to Paystack.

4.5 Taxes

Creators are solely responsible for declaring and paying any taxes applicable to income received via iKofi under South African law.

5. Tippers

Tipping on iKofi requires no registration. By submitting a tip you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method provided and that you understand tips are voluntary and non-refundable.

iKofi does not collect or store any personal information from tippers. Payment processing is handled entirely by Paystack.

6. Intellectual Property

Creators retain full ownership of their content wherever it is published. By registering on iKofi you grant iKofi a limited, non-exclusive licence to display your profile name, handle, photo, and bio on the platform for the purpose of operating your creator page.

7. Limitation of Liability

iKofi is a platform intermediary. We are not responsible for:

  • The content creators publish on any platform
  • The accuracy of any claims made by creators
  • Any loss suffered by a tipper as a result of tipping a creator
  • Any interruption to the platform caused by third-party services including Paystack
  • Any indirect, consequential, or special loss arising from use of the platform
Liability cap: To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, iKofi's total liability to any party is limited to the platform fees collected from that party in the 30 days preceding the claim.

8. Privacy

iKofi collects and processes personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at beachy.co.za/ikofi. We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

9. Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the platform will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

We encourage you to contact us at ikofi@beachy.co.za before pursuing formal action. Most issues can be resolved directly.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered creators by email. Continued use of the platform after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The current version of these terms is always available at beachy.co.za/ikofi.
